Top 15 Scenes from Season 1 of Veronica Mars

If you've made it past the title to here than you must be a fellow fan of the greatest TV show since, well, maybe ever. I'm talking, of course, about Veronica Mars.

I remember when I got Season 1 - I had heard some good things about the show and decided to give it a try. I still remember how I felt after seeing the first episode. All I could think about was that I had 21 more episodes to watch of this amazing show. And 21 more episodes of Kristen Bell - also a very good thing.

So here are the 15 best scenes of Season 1. Rather than try to rank these, I'm going to list them in order - episode 1 to episode 22. A warning, numerous spoilers ahead so if you haven't seen Season 1, go buy it. Ok, let's get to the list:

Episode 1 - Veronica's Locker Is Searched

The moment when I started falling in love with Veronica. As great as the empty locker with her display of love for Vice-Principal Clemmons is, it's her getting Buster, the police dog, to stop barking (and the look on the cop's face when the dog stops) that makes this scene.

Episode 1 - Logan's Locker Is Searched

It's right about here that somewhere in Logan's mind a voice is saying "You probably shouldn't mess with Veronica Mars". It's Logan so naturally he ignores that voice.

Episode 1 - Sheriff Lamb Has A Bad Day

Ah, Sheriff Don Lamb. Here we see the first of many embarrassments for him at the hands of Ms. Mars. To his credit, he never admits that he's outclassed and keeps coming back for more.

Episode 4 - Lilly's Video
The video is fun to watch but really this scene is here because it's the first time we begin to suspect that Logan might be an actual human being. A shocking twist in the series.

Episode 5 - Troy Learns That Drugs Are Bad
You have to wonder how many bruised hands are out there after people hit walls/steering wheels/etc because they were outsmarted by Veronica Mars. On the plus side for Troy, he kept driving to Smallville, KS, where he became Jimmy Olsen.

Episode 8 - Keith Mars Is CRAZY (In A Good Way)
What can you say about Keith Mars? Was there ever a better TV dad? Loving, caring and, as we see here, willing to do whatever it takes to protect those he cares about. Love the end where he's reading the paper and drinking coffee while this clown moves his stuff out.

Episode 10 - Veronica Shows The Boys How It's Done
I think it's here when all the key guys (Logan, Duncan, and Weevil) realize that Veronica is smarter than all of them. Weevil already sort of knew but after this they all treat her with a little more respect. And you have to love: "Looks like an evil doer, smells like an evil doer..."

Episode 11 - Meg Says Goodbye To Her Mom
Who doesn't love Meg - the Willow to Veronica's Buffy. My only complaint is that they didn't use her enough. This is a great, and really sad, scene where Meg comes to terms with the fact that she's been raised by the wrong parents.

Episode 12 - Veronica Does "One Way Or Another"
Veronica rocking the karaoke. She's singing to send a message to the Tritons and does a great job. But let's face it, this scene is here because she's hot.

Episode 13 - Bryce Meets His Match
Seeing Veronica make Logan or Weevil look stupid is always fun, but this was one time she ran into someone as smart as her. She still figured out what was going on but this time she had to work at it. And you have to love the mutual respect between her and Bryce.

Episode 15 - Veronica Gets A Happy Moment (And Looks Hot)
Despite all of her looks and brains, Veronica doesn't get a lot of happy moments. Neptune is not a fun place. So here is nice, romantic moment for her and Leo (of course I chopped the end of this scene where Logan spoils it). And if 1985 Pete was here he would be going nuts for her look and outfit in this scene. LOVE the crimped hair.

Episode 16 - Veronica Saves The Day
There haven't been nearly enough Wallace scenes so here's one of the good ones. You have to love when Veronica steps outside her comfort zone for her friends. As Veronica says in this clip, she kinda rocks.

Episode 18 - LO-VE Begins
I've cheated and posted two scenes together here but they're only seconds apart. Yes, it's the beginning of LOVE (LOgan&VEronica) for those who don't know). Obama/Mccain didn't cause the kind of heated debate we saw because of LOVE. I was on the fence but I still like this scene, especially when Logan beats the crap out of the kid from Home Improvement.

Episode 19 - Aaron Echolls is CRAZY (In A Bad Way)
As much as I love seeing Logan's dad beat the crap out of Willow's abusive boyfriend (and Alyson Hannigan will always be Willow), it's sad to think he's been doing this to Logan his whole life. With "That's Amore" playing in the backgound, it's such a surreal scene. And it makes you wonder if Aaron Echolls is capable of something REALLY crazy.

Episode 22 - Keith Mars - Best.Dad.Ever
This relationship is really the heart of this series. It gets a little dusty in the room every time I watch this scene.

Episode 22 - Aaron Echolls?! Holy S%#T!!
Despite all of the foreshadowing, I was still shocked when Aaron Echoll's face popped up on the screen. It turns out that yes, he is capable of doing something REALLY crazy. I think this was the best mystery to run over the course of an entire season in any TV show ever. It was satisfying, it made sense and didn't leave any loose ends. And as it turns out, Season 2 was just as good, but we'll talk about that in my next post.
